Jennifer Berry Hawes is a projects writer at Charleston’s Post and Courier. She was part of the team that produced “Till Death Do Us Part,” a series about South Carolina’s domestic violence epidemic that won the Pulitzer in public service in 2015. She is writing a book about the Emanuel AME Church shooting, its toll on Charleston, and the families left behind.
