Many readers have called, e-mailed, and written to ask what happens to the hardy band known as Campaign Desk at 12:01 a.m. tomorrow.

Do we, like Cinderella’s carriage, turn into a pumpkin at midnight?

The short answer is, “No.”

Campaign Desk has sufficient wherewithal on hand to keep motoring for a while. Meantime, several potential funders have approached us about the possibility of turning this humble critique into something more ambitious in the weeks and months ahead.

Consequently, we’re not ready to get the hell out of Dodge just yet. And that will be the case whether it’s an early night for election vote tabulators tomorrow, or another five-week nail-biter like Election 2000.

So hang around. As more detail becomes available, we’ll keep you informed.
