We lamented the glut of coverage of the Kagan hearings in an earlier posting, so it may seem a tad hypocritical to highlight this new interactive graphic from the Times. But for its simple “lay-of-the-land” look at where the Kagan vote stands among Republican senators right now—and its insights into where it might be heading—it’s a great resource for court-watchers.
Put together by Elisabeth Goodridge, Farhana Hossain, Alan McLean, Archie Tse, Sarah Wheaton, and Derek Willis, the chart shows how Republican Senators voted on Kagan for solicitor general, how they voted on Sotomayor last year, which way their state went 2008 (and by how much), and links to
statements and releases from each senator regarding Kagan’s nomination.
Keep an eye out for updates as more senators reveal how they plan to vote.
