More than a week after John McCain’s endorsement by the anti-Catholic, anti-Semitic pastor John Hagee, the media continues to give the GOP nominee a free pass.
Consider the following pronouncements by Hagee, the man who McCain proudly introduced as an ally last week.
On Jews:
It was the disobedience and rebellion of the Jews, God’s chosen people, to their covenantal responsibility to serve only the one true God, Jehovah, that gave rise to the opposition and persecution that they experienced beginning in Canaan and continuing to this very day.
And:
How utterly repulsive, insulting, and heartbreaking to God for his chosen people to credit idols with bringing blessings he had showered upon the chosen people. Their own rebellion had birthed the seed of anti-Semitism that would arise and bring destruction to them for centuries to come.
On gays:
All hurricanes are acts of God, because God controls the heavens. I believe that New Orleans had a level of sin that was offensive to God, and they are — were recipients of the judgment of God for that. The newspaper carried the story in our local area that was not carried nationally that there was to be a homosexual parade there on the Monday that the Katrina came. And the promise of that parade was that it was going to reach a level of sexuality never demonstrated before in any of the other Gay Pride parades. So I believe that the judgment of God is a very real thing. I know that there are people who demur from that, but I believe that the Bible teaches that when you violate the law of God, that God brings punishment sometimes before the day of judgment. And I believe that the Hurricane Katrina was, in fact, the judgment of God against the city of New Orleans.
Hagee, of course, is also a virulent anti-Catholic, who has suggested that the pope is the anti-Christ, and that Adolf Hitler’s anti-Semitism was the result of being educated at a Catholic school.
One would think that when a leading presidential candidate proudly touts the support of such a figure, the issue would receive close scrutiny from the press. But last week, once McCain assured reporters that, just because Hagee was endorsing him, it didn’t mean he agreed with everything Hagee said, the mainstream media essentially let the matter drop. Chalk another up for the Straight-Talking candidate.
That’s all the more remarkable given the high-profile grilling Barack Obama has received on the subject of Louis Farrakhan. In a recent Democratic debate, Tim Russert asked Obama to reject Farrakhan’s support. And in January, Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen drew attention to the fact that a magazine controlled by Obama’s pastor had given an award to the Nation of Islam founder.
But so far, neither Russert nor anyone else at NBC News has seen fit to press McCain on the subject, and Cohen hasn’t chosen to write about it. And remember, Obama did nothing to solicit Farrakhan’s support, while McCain actively sought Hagee’s and appeared on stage with him.
We’ve asked both NBC News and Cohen whether they plan to, given their concern about Obama’s Farrakhan “ties,” and will let you know what we hear.

What is even more mystifying is why Jews are so enamored of this man. Granted he’s telling ‘em what they want to hear, at least in terms of supporting Israel’s existence, but come on!
Over the millennia Jews have gone through periods of being Christian’s favorites because they’ve always believed that they need Jews in Israel to achieve the 2nd coming. Sadly, after ‘giving the Jews a chance’ the 2nd coming never comes and then that failure becomes the fault of the ‘stiff-necked Jews’ and, inevitably, a pogrom follows.
Why is this time & CUFI any different? It’s not. The love affair between evangelicals who support Israel’s existence and Jews is fragile and certainly can’t be counted upon to provide security for the State of Israel, Jews in Israel, or Jews in America (who, for that matter, are most at risk of the Christian right’s ire when Jesus fails to show up within whatever time-frame the evangelicals are working in).
Sadly, the only real hope for Israel’s long-term existence is to come to terms with the Palestinians (without exclusions). This will demand sacrifices by Israel that, at present, seem unlikely but are inevitable if peace is to ever be had. Such sacrifices (East Jerusalem and the West Bank settlements, for example) will be entirely unacceptable to people like Hagee & CUFI since their need for Armageddon outweighs their need for peace in the Middle East.
One can certainly count on an outbreak of vicious and widespread, probably violent, anti-Semitism following any such compromise by Israel since it will be, as it always has been “those stiff-necked Jews preventing the Rapture and the eminent arrival of Jesus”.
Geez, ain’t religion wonderful…

I find it hard to understand how anyone can possibly trust a politician who backs someone this racist

Oh, that’s right Mr. Roth, thanks for refreshing our memories on this.
You see, I forgot that John Hagee married McCain and his wife, baptized his children, works on his campaign, is one of his greatest spiritual advisors and has been McCain’s pastor for the past 17 years,
Your right, the parallels here are eerie.

I have followed John Hagee for years and he is not Anti-smetic. However, the Old Testament does say that God turned his back (for a time) on his choosen people. John is simply teaching end time theology from the New Testament. John, as well as most Christians, loves Gods choosen people. Salvation comes to the Christians thru the Jews.
John said he believed the hurricaine Katrina came about for the reason he sights.
"He believes".....his opinion. God has destroyed places and people for sin according to the Bible. (Old Testament) whick the Jews and Christians both read.
John does not hate Catholics.....John McCaine is Catholic......and John endorsed him.
Has anyone here ever read Foxs book of Martyrs? John is speaking largely about that. However the Book of Revelations gives us info....and to interpret and teach it......you must tell people what it says. "Not what we wish it said".
He is also not McCaines pastor...McCaine is a Catholic and his pastor is a Priest.

What is the point of this article? You are comparing Obama's tenure at Wright's church of 20 years to this?
This is laughabable, really.

This is laughable! Who writes this garbage is more to the point. Only a "Non"-Christian could write such a crazy article. are you sure you even Know who Pastor Hagee and Senator (of AZ)fyi--that's on the West Coast McCain. But I do understand that writing this type of non-sense sells. Because people are to lazy, ignorant and lemming-like to find out the "TRUTH" for themselves. I've never heard Pastor Hagee say that the Pope is the anti-Christ. But it would be wise to check Mr. McCain's opponent for a direct look into satan's face. That's change we can ALL live without in this country. Now that would be an aBOMiNATION!

Maria, I think you meant an Obamanation... We'll see what happens, anyone that is familiar with what is going in Islamic countries knows the propaganda being spewed and the hatred for the West that is being taught. This article is right in-line with the lies broadcasted on the Al-Jazeera network. The scary part is the Islamic countries are telling their Jihad Fighters that Obama is a Kenyan born, Muslim. I'm afraid that the Jihadists will come out strong believing Obama IS Muslim and thinking they have control of the US. Only 10-15% of Muslims are extremists, but with 1.2 billion muslims you can see my worry. Especially with the proliferation of our boarders and the way America is currently hanging itself with the rope of political correctness.

I am reading the blogs on gretawire.com and all the hatred that is coming forth. This is what you said
Pastor in your Jeruselum Countdown book. Feel the
tension and the hatred building toward Christians.
I always wear a cross and when at the gas station I purchased a $79 money order and the musleum gave me a 79 cent money order and when I wanted my money back this transaction corrected he pointed at my cross and told me I was evil and ordered me out of his store. Two other men in the store told me I should leave and they said they weren't going back there either. This gas station has sense closed down.
I also wear a cross ring - as I know to put the armour of God on and I wear it proudly and boldly. Amen.

I believe this election outcome is at it is written.
Oh what our eyes will see and our ears will hear.
Put on the armour of God. Pray.

The writer of this piece, Zachary Roth, not only calumniates Pastor John Hagee as anti-Semitic, but demonstrates that he is either unable or unwilling to do proper research. While John Hagee may be many things -- anti-Semitic is not one of them. In fact, a number of Jewish people have in recent months come out and correctly defended him from such vile charges. I hear that the Columbia J-School is the touchstone for American j-schools. This article demonstrates for all the world to see just why it is that the MSM is increasingly despised by hard-working, God-fearing, patriotic Americans: In a word, it cannot be trusted, because the practitioners of the trade are simply too lazy or incompetent to be trusted. While I am not a member of Hagee's church, I have visited it. Very prominent in the main auditorium is a full-sized flag of Israel tacked to one wall -- hardly standard fare, I suspect, in venues where genuine anti-Semites (e.g., Nazis, Aryans, Muslims) meet.

"But realize this: that in the last days perilous times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of those who are good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!..." (2 Timothy 3:1-5)
"For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do." (Hebrews 4:12-13)
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction." (Proverbs 1:7)
