Not Quite Yet, Jodi

January 20, 2004

Here’s how Jodi Wilgoren and Christine Hauser of The New York Times led off their Howard Dean story from New Hampshire this morning: “Howard Dean landed here before dawn today, promising to fight for eight straight days to win the Jan. 27 primary in New Hampshire, where the commanding position he once held has diminished considerably if not disappeared altogether.”

The story cites no polling data, but the latest ARG poll from New Hampshire, conducted Jan 17-19 shows: Dean 28%, Kerry 20%, Clark 19%.

Yes, Dean’s lead has diminished considerably, but there’s no evidence that it’s “disappeared altogether.”
