On My Way to Glenn Beck’s Doom Bunker

March 18, 2009

I’ve feared that for a year now that doing the Twitter thing would be the tipping point for me—one that would push the information overload into get-me-out-of-here territory.

So if I disappear in the next couple of weeks, check Bellevue (or whatever the equivalent is in DC) or that abandoned shack in Montana.

I am now on Twitter.

Add it to my four newspaper subscriptions (Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Financial Times, Washington Post—five if you count Barron’s!), dozen magazines, myriad RSS, CJR online stuff, blogs, email, friends’ websites, Gchat, Facebook, LinkedIn, CNBC—and that bookcase of unread titles that stares me down every day. Good Lord.

So, if I start acting like Fox resident nut (and that’s saying something!) Glenn Beck— talking with religious fervor, blubbering repeatedly on national TV, wetting my bed over the “Calcutta”-like future our major cities face due to Obamanomics—get me a straitjacket.

Sign up for CJR's daily email

Or at least send me to Shepard Smith.
