The last time the NYT really wrote about the deal was this gushing piece two and a half years ago. The AP hasn’t written about it in more than two years. Almost no one besides Johnston has covered the Court of Appeals ruling. This Daily News editorial and Times Union news story are the exceptions.
Surely one of the biggest corporate giveaways in history deserves more scrutiny than this, as does the questionable court ruling justifying it.

I'm proud to have once worked with David Cay Johnston. He's one of those tireless, extremely intelligent people willing to dig through mountains of garbage and obfuscation to get at the truth. My hat is off to him for getting this story and to Ryan Chittum & CJR for bringing it to our attention.

I agree with Ryan?
Is Hell freezing over or something?
Of course.. Giving money to ANYBODY from the treasury should be unconstitutional.
The Gubmint should not be doling out taxes earned by productive citizens as cash to billionaires or Snickers bars to obese food stamp mooches.
