A Tasty Morsel

January 14, 2010

Just a week after the New York Times cafeteria was closed down for a day after several employees reported food poisoning-related symptoms, DailyFinance’s Jeff Bercovici has this report on the dirtiest and cleanest cafeterias in the New York media business.

According to his findings culled from New York City Department of Health inspection records, the Reuters cafeteria appears to barely rank above your average street-meat cart, while Bloomberg and Google pulled off nearly spotless inspections.

Journalists love to do things like wade through public records to reveal less-than-spotless behavior, so it’s especially delicious to see their reporting tricks used to against them.

But let’s just say it’s a good thing CJR’s mini-fridge doesn’t rate a visit from the Department of Health.
