A WHCD Explainer: Couric’s Twitpics

May 3, 2010

Wondering what this White House Correspondents’ Dinner thing is all about? Don’t have time to track down hard-to-come-by descriptions and recaps of the festivities? Maybe you’ve been preoccupied with non-White-House-Correspondents’-Dinner-related news?

Luckily, a lot of what you need to know about the Dinner can be learned simply by viewing Katie Couric’s twitpics from this past weekend’s events, which she just now shared on Twitter:

“[Couric] With the JoBros and Demi Lavato at the Albritton and Politico Brunch.”

“[Couric With] Senator Scott Brown, Betty White and Chelsea Handler.”

“Ebony and ivory.” [Couric With Actor Morgan Freeman] (scroll down to read comment from Danny Deutsch, late of MSNBC: “What a nice photo, Katie. You look great!”)

“A much-needed foot rub after a night in heels!” [Actor Morgan Freeman massages Couric’s foot].

In a nutshell.

UPDATE: One more photo that goes a long way, on its own, toward summarizing the Dinner (this one, from CNN’s Ed Henry, captioned, “CNN’s Ed Henry helps first lady Michelle Obama — with Jay Leno and Robert Gibbs — send out her first tweet.”) Reading Henry’s accompanying first-person description of how he helped first lady Michelle Obama — with Jay Leno and Robert Gibbs– send out her first tweet?
