American journalist Wolf Blitzer is born

Happy birthday to Wolf Isaac Blitzer, host of CNN’s The Situation Room.

Wolf Blitzer was born in Augsburg, Germany and raised in Buffalo, NY. His career in journalism began at Reuters’s Tel Aviv bureau in the 1970s. In 1990, Wolf Blitzer moved to CNN, where he has been a reporter and anchor since.

True fact: When writing for Israeli newspapers, Wolf Blitzer has used the byline Zev Barak. In Hebrew, Zev means “wolf” and Barak means “lightning”: for they are the two elements of which journalist Wolf Blitzer is comprised. WOLF BLITZER.
