Another chance to talk teleprompter! Of which MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough availed himself on today’s Morning Joe:
(Cue clip of President Obama speaking yesterday on piracy, emphasis mine.)
OBAMA: I want to be very clear that we are resolved to halt the rise of privacy in that region and to achieve that goal, we’re going to have to continue to work with our partners to prevent future attacks and be prepared to confront them when they arise… [End clip]
SCARBOROUGH: Here’s the problem with the teleprompter. If somebody types in –he was reading because you can tell — if somebody types in “privacy” instead of “piracy” and you just read the teleprompter and say, “We’re going to cut down on the rise of privacy,” it’s a problem. No, he said it. “We’re going to cut down on the rise of privacy.” I thought Dick Cheney tried that and it got him in trouble. We don’t do teleprompters here.
MIKA BRZEZINSKI: I know, but I’ve had my bad days with teleprompters. I am not judging.
SCARBOROUGH: I’m not either… If you read the teleprompter all the time, you better make damn sure that people are typing in “piracy” instead of “privacy” or you’re fired.
I’m sure you, like Scarborough, “aren’t judging”… but: Who’s to blame? The teleprompter? The teleprompted?
