Dancing With Political Operatives

September 14, 2009

In one week, former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay makes his debut on the dance competition show “Dancing With the Stars” and the coverage has started before he has even donned a single sequin.

Politico asked around for advice to help DeLay craft a winning strategy and the consensus is that without the physical prowess or showmanship of the field of athletes, singers and actors he is up against, DeLay should brush up on his best baby-kissing skills and use his best political smooth-talking to win the judges over.

Here Politico quotes Vanity Fair’s James Wolcott- an “avid watcher of dance in all forms,” it turns out.

“He’s got do a charm offensive,” said Vanity Fair contributing editor James Wolcott, an avid watcher of the show and dance in all forms. “The question is can he do that? The judges can be pointed in what they are saying. He’s got to show no temper.”
