Ellie finalists announced

National mag awards honor the best work last year

Monday morning, ASME announced finalists for Magazine of the Year, the top honor in its annual awards ceremony. The rest of the category finalists were released last week.

Finalists are Esquire, Glamour, National Geographic, New York, and Time.

The award, according to an ASME pres release, “honors the achievement of editorial excellence in all Magazine Media, including print, online, tablets, and smartphones.”

The American Society of Magazine Editors announced finalists for the 2013 National Magazine Awards on Monday. Winners will be revealed at a May 2 ceremony in New York. Finalists for awards, called the Ellies, include 62 publications nominated in 23 categories.

Esquire, Fortune, National Geographic, New York, and Wired are the large-circulation mags nominated for general excellence in print; on the digital side, nominees are Chow, Glamour, National Geographic, Pitchfork, and Slate.

National Geographic received the most nominations—seven—recognizing the publication’s exemplary work in multiple platforms.
