Two Iraqi translators for the New York Times, Mudhafer al-Husaini and Sahar S. Gabriel, have received refugee visas to come to the United States. They are blogging about their experiences at nytimes.com.

Writes Gabriel, of her recent arrival in Detroit:

I keep repeating to myself: “Don’t panic, but you’ve made it.” I am now on the other side of this war. The less violent side.
