Last month, Time‘s James Poniewozik imagined a future for journalists in the “literary-fiction/poetry model” whereby “a lucky few, best-selling creative writers …are able to support themselves through their work [while the] rest work in other fields” and “those who stick with it do it because they’re passionate, but they don’t expect ever to make a living at it.”
