There is a very real chance that the Katie Couric/Sarah Palin interview–“the gift that keeps on giving” to some; “the itchy rash that won’t go away” to others–will be part of our lives, like hope and love and cockroaches and styrofoam, forever. And today has brought even more evidence of the infamous exchange’s utter-refusal-to-leave-us-alone, this time in the form of a guerilla-style interview, conducted by TMZ, in which Couric pretty much seems to mock the GOP Veep hopeful:
TMZ: So what magazines and newspapers do you read?
COURIC: All of them and any of them.
TMZ: Can you name one?
COURIC: Yes, of course. Everyone lies about The Economist, but I actually read it.
Couric goes on to note: “I read a lot of magazines and newspapers. But, luckily, I’m not running for vice president.”
So, you know, zing, and all that. Well done. But, please: Katie and Sarah and everyone else involved in The Interview That Won’t Die: Please, let this one be the final round. Please. Please. Please?
