Congrats to Lauren McCullough, who’s been named AP’s Manager of Social Networks and News Engagement at the org’s “Nerve Center” in its NYC offices. Per an article announcing her promotion:
McCullough will head the Social Network Center, one of four components of the new headquarters center in New York. She will direct the work of editors there and around the company in pursuing journalistic material from social networks, promoting AP’s presence and content on social networks, and providing feedback to news managers on topics of high interest on social networks.
The Social Network Center, and McCullough’s role within it, are indications of AP’s—and, by extension, of the news industry’s—new emphasis on social networking in its overall news dissemination (and collection) strategy. We look forward to following their work.
