Not Sweatin’ It

June 23, 2009

As Obama kicks off his first day-time press conference, here’s a Tweeted guess from David Westphal, former D.C. bureau chief for McClatchy, of why the event, originally scheduled for the White House Rose Garden, was moved inside to the cramped briefing room:

Cynical former DC reporter’s view on why O’s press conference moved inside: This is a bad time for prez to be seen sweating.

Right now, it’s a sunny 77 degrees in Washington. Is that sweatin’ weather?

UPDATE: Mark Knoller of CBS Radio adds this Tweet from the scene:

Because the Briefing Room is so crowded, it’s nearly as hot as it would be outside in the Rose Garden.
