Bomb Iran?

Throwaway line in NYT’s piece will be fodder for hawks
September 24, 2007

For anyone looking for similarities between the push for regime change in Iraq and the U.S.’s persistent bickering with Iran (we know you’re out there), the last line of Michael Slackman’s piecein today’s New York Times about President Ahmadinejad’s relative lack of power in his own government will raise an eyebrow or two.

Slackman gives the last word on the moribund nature of the Iranian government to Saeed Leylaz, an Iranian “economist and former government official”:

The situation will get worse and worse…We are moving to a point where no internal force can change things.

No internal force. It’s a provocative way to end the piece, and one that will get the keyboards in blogistan clattering.
