‘Round The Water Cooler: Bono’s Column

April 20, 2009

Assorted CJR writers ponder Bono’s second New York Times column:

1) Finally, a home for all those stray lyrics that didn’t make the cut for No Line On The Horizon?

2) Remember what Gail Collins, the onetime Times editorial page editor and current Times columnist, said about how Times columns are edited: “Nobody knows what anybody’s writing, actually… they don’t check on us.”

3) This one actually didn’t piss me off as much as the other one. At least he tied it all together to some semblance of a point at the end. (But, uh, I still haven’t found what I’m looking for…)

4) It’s like an Onion column: There’s the columnist’s photo that makes you think, That can’t be a real person’s photo; And then there’s a bunch of rambling to the right of it.
