The real price of 'news fit to print' has been the 4 thousand men and women in uniform many of whom would still be around today, had they been given the benefit of doubt by a stand-up media.
And media is a big word in a small world run by less and less people. Little wonder, then, power-play circles and Intel-insiders are able to trade on information that rots like fish in a well — so it goes.
To err is human. To hide the face of awe on the fallen (in a never-ending war) may be garble and chic to some, but it makes slaves of us all.
