Take a look at this paragraph. It comes in the middle of today’s otherwise very by-the-books Washington Post report from ex-President Bush’s debut appearance as a motivational speaker:

Many people interviewed afterward said they liked Bush, perhaps even because he wasn’t the best speaker of the day. He could have said a thesaurus was a big scaly creature that roamed the planet millions of years ago and they would have applauded.

I guess that’s supposed to be a joke, but I’ll entertain alternate possibilities. Maybe one of the Washington Post copy editors is a spy trying to sneak a coded message to his handler. Or something.
