Minutes ago the Times posted what seemed like a Julian Assange video on its T style blog—one that was protected and required a password. Now, the page has been removed. Any idea what might have lied behind the the password barrier? And why it’s no longer there?

UPDATE: The video is up. Follows T’s entertainment director Jacob Brown and photographer Max Vadukul as they track Assange to Malmö, Sweden, to shoot him for an upcoming feature.

This is 100% a guess - maybe the post-pay-wall plan involves password protecting goodies like multimedia and recently a bit of post-pay-wall code was allowed to do a short of walkabout" and turned itself on early.
My guess would also explain why there's no explanation posted on the page. If the programmers were at fault the internal NYT logic (Which I think is faulty.) might be that since no reporters or editors made a mistake - no explanation is needed.
