While the Tube Star Gently Weeps

October 5, 2009

Glenn Beck is known for many things, but the media star’s most iconic characteristic is probably the melodramatic weeping he often engages in, on air, generally in response to Insults to Liberty, Affronts to the United States and Her Constitution, Slights against Honest Americans, and whatever other injustices happen, on a given day, to tickle his tear ducts. While these displays are, of course, almost always the results of Steadfast Sentiment, Sincere Sympathy, etc….any TV star will tell you that even the most authentic of emotions can always be helped along the way.

Below–in a video that depicts an eminently instruction-responsive pundit being photographed in various stages of blubbering–Beck’s crying game (“Tears for Fears”?) gets an assist from no less an acting coach than…Vicks VapoRub.

Which is fantastic, because if there’s one thing the world needed, it was to see “Glenn Beck” and “topical ointment” in the same sentence. You are welcome.
