The genius that is Calvin Trillin continues. Hot on the heels of his Polanski Poetry, Trillin turns in a New York Times op-ed that not only bursts with literary-nonfictional vigor, but that also manages to explain last year’s financial collapse in one succinct sentence. As Alex Balk put it, “Calvin Trillin For Mayor Of Awesome Town.”
Seconded.

And thirded. Best line from the video at Balk's post, in which Trillin explains why it's no big deal that the New Yorker's new managing editor is something like 26 years old:
"Maybe 10 or 15 years ago it was somebody who was the same age -- we called him 'Editor Boy'."
To be called "Editor Boy" by Calvin Trillin... one can dream.
