Ex-nurse charged with sex battery
— ASSOCIATED PRESS
Riverside County prosecutors have charged a former male nurse with the sexual battery of two female patients at a Murrieta hospital.
Spokesman John Hall says Paul Robert Simon, 53, was arrested Tuesday morning at his apartment. He faces five felony charges, including three counts of sexual battery on a medically incapacitated person.
An investigation into Simon was started in late 2010 after a report of possible criminal activity.
Investigators say that in April 2009, a 58-year-old woman awoke after being on life-support to find she had difficulty moving her body but was mentally alert. Simon allegedly used her hand to masturbate himself.
In August 2010, a nurse reported seeing Simon touch a 57-year-old woman inappropriately. If convicted, Simon faces up to six years in prison. He’s slated to be arraigned Thursday.
