Yesterday CJR Daily incorrectly reported that Tim Russert failed to address his own role in the Lewis “Scooter” Libby case on Sunday’s edition of “Meet the Press.”
In fact, as the “Meet the Press” transcript shows, Russert discussed precisely that in some detail. In addition, he had earlier discussed the case and his involvement in it on NBC with Brian Williams on Friday. then again on the Friday NBC Nightly News, and on Russert’s own CNBC show on Saturday.
In short, our Sunday report was incorrect in its particulars and in its thrust. We deeply regret the error, and herewith apologize to Mr. Russert, to NBC and to our readers.
