“Outsourced Edit?” is the headline of a short piece by Ben Frumin in the current issue of CJR about Express KCS, an “Indian back-office company that designs and produces advertisements for more than one hundred U.S. publications, many of them in MediaNews Group papers like the San Jose Mercury News,” a company that hopes to take on outsourced editorial work as well.
The Associated Press reports that Mindworks, another India-based company, has landed a one-month trial to do just that — outsourced editorial work — for the Orange County Register Communications Inc. (specifically copy editing for “some stories published in The Orange County Register” as well page layout for an unnamed “community newspaper.”)
