Longshot Wants Your Stories (Right Away)

August 27, 2010

The Magazine Formerly Known As 48 HR (before a cease-and-desist letter from CBS made them change their name) is back! Under the new moniker Longshot Magazine, the same team will produce a second issue, both in print and online, in exactly forty-eight hours.

Via their Web site and Twitter, Longshot has just announced its new theme: “comeback.” If you want to participate, start now, because you’ve only got twenty-four hours to slap something together and send it in. Then they’ll take the following twenty-four to choose the content, edit it, and produce the entire magazine. From their Web site:

We want submissions ranging from 140 characters to 4,000 words. Please send us your strongly reported narratives, design fictions, interviews, data visualizations, cartoons, family portraits, how-to guides, maps, obscure histories, recipes, war reporting, photo-essays, blueprints, ships’ logs, scientific papers, charticles, wood cuts, curio boxes, product reviews, and box scores.

Okay! We’ll revisit the project next week when the issue is out, to take a closer look at their process and see what they came up with.
