Blogging From Air Force One

Anyone hear about the White House's blog?
January 10, 2008

It seems that no one has really noticed, but president Bush’s entourage is blogging–after a fashion–it’s trip to Israel and the Middle East this week. Called “Trip Notes From the Middle East,” (catchy, that), the blog promises to give a running commentary on the president’s travels. So far, the blog only has two entries, both by Press Secretary Dana Perino, where we’re given slices of life such as:

After boarding Air Force One around 7 PM EST on Tuesday, we had a great flight to Israel. There’s always a lot of activity on the flight over – some people read briefing papers, work on last-minute logistical issues, suggest edits to the President’s remarks…and others, like me, stake out territory to get some sleep on the overnight flight.

Today, we’re promised the musings of Counselor to the President Ed Gillespie. Take that, MSM! All kidding aside, good for the White House for finally using its Web site as something more than a parking space for transcripts and news releases. While I’m sure they won’t break any news on the blog, a look (even if it’s a self-interested one) into the president’s daily schedule while traveling can be–if done right–interesting.
