"The World’s Most Important Network"

June 2, 2009

Below, a compilation of news stories from 1987, when CNN moved its Atlanta headquarters from a red brick, white-columned “former country club” to a towering shopping complex. Why this? Because, I guess, CNN is 29 this year (h/t, Michael Calderone). Plus: the eighties visuals! Anchors with Pat Benatar hair, indoor smoking, “terminals and typewriters.” CNN’s slogan back then: “The World’s Most Important Network.” (Does today’s “The Most Trusted Name In News” promise more or less?)
