Ours is not a government "of the people, by the people, for the people". We're just kidding ourselves.

Tom, you are right (I will post this only once) that we are not what we pretend to be but we still try. And as a radical incrementalist, I am happy that one tiny step is being taken toward that heavenly city we will never reach. Remember Beckett: Quand on est dans la merde jusqu'au cou, il ne reste plus qu'a chanter. Get out your pitch pipe.
