Congratulations to CJR’s Dean Starkman and former staff writer Megan Garber for their victories at today’s Mirror Awards ceremony. The Mirror Awards, given by Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications, honor the year’s best media reporting. Starkman won in the Best In-Depth Piece, Traditional Media category, for his article “Power Problem,” about the business media’s complacency in the years leading up to the recent financial crisis. Garber won in the Best Single Article, Digital Media category, for her article “Common Knowledge,” part of CJR’s Press Forward series. Craig Silverman, CJR’s “Regret the Error” columnist, and Justin Peters, CJR’s managing editor/Web, were also nominated.
