With the news this morning of Elena Kagan’s nomination to the Supreme Court, cable news got to work familiarizing viewers with the nominee, slicing Kagan’s bio into chyron-friendly “breaking news” bits to rotate repeatedly across the bottom of the screen all morning. Like, on MSNBC, viewers are learning, over and over, that AT 50, KAGAN WOULD BE YOUNGEST ON COURT and KAGAN IS THE SOLICITOR GENERAL, and KAGAN HAS NO JUDICIAL EXPERIENCE, and:
….except that last one seems no longer to be in the rotation.
