The American Society of Magazine Editors announced finalists for the 2013 National Magazine Awards on Monday. Winners will be revealed at a May 2 ceremony in New York. Finalists for awards, called the Ellies, include 62 publications nominated in 23 categories.
Esquire, Fortune, National Geographic, New York, and Wired are the large-circulation mags nominated for general excellence in print; on the digital side, nominees are Chow, Glamour, National Geographic, Pitchfork, and Slate.
National Geographic received the most nominations—seven—recognizing the publication’s exemplary work in multiple platforms.

Sort of mind-boggling that Saveur is nominated in the Lifestyle category when they've been so sleazy, in my view, with their advertorial practices. Back in January I left a comment on a NYT collection of links about my disdain for what looked like a Saveur advertorial but wasn't labeled as such:

As far as I can tell, they started using the phrase "Sponsored Content" very shortly thereafter. A remarkable coincidence if that's what it is.
Then again, I see The Atlantic is one of the nominees for best website, and they run Scientology advertorials. Is there still such a thing as credibility?
