Sarah Stonbely (PhD, New York University, 2015) is the research director at the Center for Cooperative Media in Montclair, NJ. As such she designs, manages, and executes the research agenda, which supports the Center’s mission of growing and strengthening local journalism. Sarah's doctorate is in political communication, media sociology, and journalism studies. Since heading the research agenda at CCM, Stonbely has produced white papers and research reports on collaborative journalism, the effects on content of changing media ownership, ethnic and community media, and the structural correlates of success for local news outlets. Sarah’s expertise is in journalism culture and practice, local news ecosystems, and research methodology.
