Wondering what Mitt Romney is up to today?
Oh, don’t lie. Sure you are!
Paul Harvey, the 89-year-old radio host who just oozes heartland in his folksy, twice daily news and comment broadcasts, is taking a couple of weeks off for medical reasons.
And Romney, the one-time actual presidential candidate, and sometimes mentioned potential vice-presidential candidate, is filling in today. One man’s pitch-perfect casting is another’s golly-gee-willikers blindness to irony.
At Harvey’s website, you can stream Mitt’s broadcasts, in all their forced chuckle glory. For example:
“Would you believe the Detroit Tigers finally won a game? And would you believe it was my Red Sox who were the losers!?”
As The Atlantic’s Marc Ambinder points out, Harvey has a weekly audience of 22 million. I wonder how many vote?
