As Campaign Desk was perusing our favorite daily newspaper (The Daily Racing Form) today, we discovered that 14 of 19 crack handicappers assembled by the Form pick Smarty Jones to win tomorrow’s Belmont Stakes and become the first Triple Crown winner since 1978.
Five of the 19, including Steven Crist, the editor of DRF, go out on a limb and pick someone else to win.
It’s fun reading, but we’re left at the end with the same complaint that we have about so many political reporters:
All that these guys want to cover is the horse race.
