On today’s episode of Hardball, Chris Matthews grills William Kostric, the fellow (and—perhaps unsurprisingly, given the “Tree of Liberty” sign he toted today—the Ron Paul supporter) who brought a loaded gun, “to make a statement,” to today’s Portsmouth town hall:

Perhaps carrying his gun gives him a "thrill down his leg" ... surely Chris can relate to that.

As much as I don't like this guy or what he did, Chris Mathews is an unadulterated asshole in this interview. To be honest, I don't know what the point of this interview is other than to make Chris Matthews feel good about himself.

You people are so wrong. It's obvious what Matthews was doing. Simply pointing out this display of agression which can set off violence in the future. It was also obvious this was the intent.

Kostric was well spoken and constrained as opposed to the embarassing meltdown Matthews had. Kostric was right when he said this is no big deal for us in NH. "Open carry" protesters are at many political events. I was at the event and was more alarmed by the angry seiu thugs than an open carry protestor. i wish left wing journalists like Matthews could stop for a moment of introspection and see what fools they are making out of themselves!

This idiot has a huge problem with what he considers too much government interference in his life, so he does something stupid like this that will guarantee that the FBI will be keeping close watch on him for the rest of his worthless life. Good job.

Joshua: That's the very reason heros like this put themselves in harms' way for our sake....we need to join him in NOT knuckling under to the over-zealous FBI who would "keep close watch on him for the rest of his worthless life"....We've obviously allowed the gov't. too much power when they can stalk us for life for NOT breaking the law in any way!!!!!!!!.....Your reasoning is that bullies should RULE and we should OBEY....This man is not living a worthless life, Chris Matthews is by trying to associate guns with violence...Gee, where did we get that idea...hmmm....is it all the violence perpetrated on citizens who don't deserve it, esp. citizens protesting WAR---I can't think of anything more violent than war, and it's been under FALSE PRETEXT, since WWII (since Pearl Harbor, ever war has been started with a lie....

Our gov't drags US into violence, not the other way around. All I can guess is that you actually believe MSM is not suppressed....Try watching a very old movie, "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" and see that even 50 years ago, the CONGRESSMEN were the thieves & bullies & liars and the newspapers were owned by elitist bulllies who would run down 12-16 year old boys on bicycles and wagons with their (much better built) cars just because the boys' little newspaper dared to speak the Truth......Also, are you living in 1984 so much that you are cut off from the history of guns in obtaining our independence....Do you think all those patriots used guns to shoot each other or rob or steal or take advantage of anyone weaker?....I carry a fist around with me at all times but I have never struck anyone.
