Tapper Tweets Objections to Obama Speech

May 21, 2009

ABC News’s Jake Tapper Twitters his objections to President Obama’s “media” mentions* in his speech:

second time POTUS bashes media in this speech…does he not read his clips? it’s like Tom Hanks complaining abuot not enuff oscars

i know it’s easy to bash the media for everything, but the ones upset at photo decision are human rights groups, not the media

and many of POTUS’s supporters, of course, esp liberals, good-gov types

i’m not whining! i dont care, just think it’s silly. and frankly, attacking media instead of those actually upset is just short of strawman

*Will update with specific quotes shortly. Most recently Obama mentioned something about the media’s need (if I heard properly) for “good copy.”

UPDATE: Found two mentions of media in the official text of Obama’s speech:

Unfortunately, faced with an uncertain threat, our government made a series of hasty decisions…And in this season of fear, too many of us – Democrats and Republicans; politicians, journalists and citizens – fell silent.

And:

I understand that it is no secret that there is a tendency in Washington to spend our time pointing fingers at one another. And our media culture feeds the impulses that lead to a good fight. Nothing will contribute more to that than an extended re-litigation of the last eight years.
