Over at Politico, Michael Calderone has a post up noting that Washington Post TV critic Lisa de Moraes’s piece on Paula Abdul’s departure from “American Idol” refers to the show’s host, Ryan Seacrest, as “Seabiscuit.”
At first glance, this may look like an embarrassing editing goof. But “Seabiscuit” isn’t a mistake—de Moraes has been referring to Seacrest by the name of a famous thoroughbred for at least two weeks. Your mileage may vary as to whether that’s witty, but this is one we can’t pin on copy desk cutbacks.
